Dear Students,

I've attached a list describing every APPE being offered for the 2020-2021 year at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

If you are interested in completing one or more APPE rotations at Penn State Hershey Medical Center please do the following:

Indicate your requests by completing the attached HMC student info APPE sheet. Once completed these can be scanned and emailed back to me. Do NOT e-mail forms to Hershey Medical Center.

1) Please indicate on the form any and all specific APPE rotations (rotation blocks and learning experience) that you are interested in requesting in order of preference. You may request to do more than one rotation. You may also request a first, second, and third choice for each rotation you want to do. There is no guarantee that all rotations will be available at the requested times as we are competing with several schools.

2) If you have any special requests (e.g. extremely interested in one area) please let me know.

3) If requesting an Emergency Medicine APPE please look very closely. There are multiple options, including the option to pursue a virtually entirely overnight ED experience. We will need to know which of the three options you would like to pursue if choosing this APPE. Because of scheduling, you will not be able to change your option after being assigned. Also, even for the day/evening option, you will likely be starting and ending later in the day than most other APPE's.

4) For all APPE's with multiple preceptors in the description (e.g. Adult Medicine, Emergency Medicine, General Pediatrics), they are shared precepting modeIs. A final preceptor will be assigned at the time of making placements, but students are not able to request specific preceptors.

There are housing options (not free) available in the area of the Medical Center that we can share with you if interested.

We are requesting to hear back from you by Friday, November 15th 2019, with a goal to have assignments made known to you by mid-December.
