I just received this notification from Dr. Kristen Fink, They are extending the Kaiser Permanente application deadline to October 21st.  If you want to still apply for this rotation you have until next Monday to do so.  She has also attached instruction to create your myClinical Exchange and description of student rotations.

Good Afternoon Experiential Learning Deans, Directors and Coordinators,

I have several questions from students about rotations still trickling in, and in the interest of making sure that everyone who wants to come to KP has the opportunity to do so, I am extending the deadline to next Monday, October 21st.

Please pass this along to your students and let them know that if they would like an Advanced Community rotation, they do NOT need to submit the case SOAP note, they can just upload their CV as a placeholder in the system. We have lots of opportunity in this area in particular, so there are plenty of spots for everyone!

Dear Experiential Learning Deans, Directors and Coordinators,

Hello!  I hope your school year is off to a great start! It is hard to believe we are already making plans for Class of 2021 rotations! I look forward to continuing our work together to provide rewarding experiences for your students in the upcoming year.

Kaiser Permanente will be using the myClinicalExchange platform to coordinate rotation applications and assignments again this year and will follow the same process where students can apply directly through myClinicalExchange (unless you would prefer that your University submit the requests instead of the students applying directly).

Detailed instructions for the students on how to create their account and make the requests are attached. Please forward this email to them. The available rotations are built directly into the system. I am attaching a description of our student rotations that we have available this year.


A few items for students to take special note of:

  *   Students should read the My Clinical Exchange instruction sheet carefully, it will walk them through the process step by step and answer any questions they have along the way. They should not reach out with questions without reading the document first.
  *   All applications are due through the myClinicalExchange system by Monday, October 14.
  *   Students may not get the exact location they request due to preceptor and site availability, but this system will help me to match them with the closest thing I have available to their ideal.
  *   If students choose a rotation in VA, they will need a VA intern license and if they choose a rotation in DC, they will need a DC intern license, Maryland does not require an intern license for rotation students.
  *   In order to be considered for rotation placement, the student will need to upload their CV, Letter of Intent, and *NEW for this year* write a SOAP note based on the standardized case attached, to myClinicalExchange. Please note that we have more advanced community opportunities than clinical/ non- traditional opportunities. If the student is only interested in an advanced community rotation, they may submit their CV for a second time instead of the standardized case SOAP note. Any student who is interested in any rotation aside from advanced community must submit the standardized case SOAP note in order to be considered. The system will not allow them to submit a request without these documents, so they should have these on hand prior to starting their application.
  *   Students should submit a separate rotation request for each type of rotation they would like. Ie: If they would like both a nephrology rotation and an advanced community rotation, they should submit 2 separate requests.


If you do choose to enter requests on behalf of your students, you may still do so and use the same process as previous years. I would recommend reviewing the student instructions attached so you can see exactly what fields they are being asked to fill out as the fields have changed. You can also request a webex refresher on how to use the system from My Clinical Exchange by emailing support at myclinicalexchange.com<mailto:support at myclinicalexchange.com>.

With this process, I will be able to approve rotation requests directly through the myClinicalExchange system. My goal is to be able to finalize all assignments before January 1, 2020. As soon as I complete the assignments I will send you a list of all students and rotation slots for your school.
