NEW COURSE DEVELOPMENT -great LEARNING opportunity for Spring Term!

Want to have data science skills?
Want to learn more about education?
Would you like to explore data science applied to pharmacotherapy (Pharmacoanalytics)?
Want to present at a national meeting?

We have just the experience for you! Email Dr. Smith at smithrb at pitt.edu<mailto:smithrb at pitt.edu> if you are interested. Info below:

We are collaborating with SCI (School of Computing and Information) on the design and creation of a course to teach Python programming language. We will have some students from SCI and would love to have five pharmacy students enroll in this 1-credit special topics class for the spring term. In the course, you will help the faculty create this course while taking it. You get to learn some curriculum design while you learn to program with Python. The designers/innovators/instructors are Randy Smith and Ravi Patel from Pharmacy, Dmitiry Babichenko from SCI, and Robin Albright from the Center for Teaching and Learning.

There are no prerequisites other than wanting to learn new things and to have fun. Time requirements are approximately 2 hours per week. Tentatively planning on meeting Monday evenings from 6-8:30 pm.

What is Python?

Often considered the most important programming language for data science. Here is a brief video that highlights some things you can do with Python
