The AAMC is accepting applications for the 2016 Leadership and Management Foundations for Academic Medicine and Science (formerly, Executive Development Seminar for Aspiring Leaders), which will be held at the AAMC’s Headquarters in Washington, DC on April 28 – 30. This is a final reminder to apply. The application closes Monday, March 7. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis. Apply and you will be notified within a week if your application has been accepted.
If you are thinking about a leadership position in academic medicine and science, and are ready to take the next step in your career or increase your leadership presence in your scientific or professional organization, please consider this seminar.
The AAMC’s Leadership and Management Foundations for Academic Medicine and Science is designed to prepare new and emerging leaders to be successful in a leadership role. Targeted for assistant and associate professors, program directors, division chiefs, and administrative leaders, etc., the seminar provides critical knowledge and skill-building experiences in core areas vital to leadership and management, including:
* defining expectations and success factors of leadership
* the role of emotional intelligence in leading yourself and others
* interpersonal and inter-organizational communication strategies, and
* talent management and teamwork.
In addition to knowing more about leadership, you will acquire an enhanced repertoire of leadership behaviors and leave the seminar prepared to ‘enact’ leadership.
