Dear Experiential Coordinators,

Please share this exciting opportunity with your 3rd/4th Year students to learn more about residency training opportunities with Indian Health Service. This is their chance to learn why residency training with Indian Health Service is a unique experience with serving a special population. This also gives interested candidates a chance to ask questions about the application process. Students may also ask questions about a rewarding career as an officer in the USPHS Commissioned Corps. We look forward to hearing from you and your students.

The Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC) Residency Program invites you to join us online to learn more about residency training opportunities in Indian Health Service with the PIMC Residency Program Infosession scheduled for November 17, 2020 8pm-9pm EST. During these informative Q&A sessions, interested candidates can learn about the PGY-1 and PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Leadership and Administration residency programs at PIMC.

The Phoenix Indian Medical Center, one of the largest comprehensive medical centers in Indian Health service, serves as a referral center for reservation-based hospitals and clinics in Arizona, Nevada, and Utah as well as primary and acute care services for the urban American Indian/Alaska Native population of the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Residents are able to gain valuable clinical experience in many of the hospital’s pharmacy-based clinics including immunizations, tobacco cessation, latent tuberculosis, contraception and sexually transmitted infections, cardiovascular risk reduction, and anticoagulation. Residents also have the opportunity to get clinical experience in Antimicrobial Stewardship, HIV and Hepatitis C, Rheumatology, Neurology, Endocrinology, and Behavioral Health. Other learning opportunities at PIMC include participation in the P&T Committee, completing a medication use evaluation, drug information, and medical informatics. Residents also have the opportunity to earn a teaching certificate during the year.
