Hello P4s,

The time is nearing for the end of block 1. Keep up the great work! We will be sending Block 2 updates very soon. Here are reminders about what is due after each APPE rotation:

APPE ASSIGNMENTS: (Zoom session slides posted to eValue and Portfolio Home Pages)

Due Date:
All work is due by the Monday following completion of each APPE. Since you start right into the next rotation, it is not advisable to get behind on this. Late work will result in forfeit of any honors grade that you may have been recommended for, and an “incomplete” grade for the rotation. This grade will convert to “unsatisfactory” if not taken care of.

eValue Requirements:
For each APPE, you must complete your eValue midpoint and final self-evaluation, and the preceptor/site evaluation.

Portfolio Requirements:
Your assignments should be posted to your Assessment Portfolio under the appropriate PharmD Program outcome, and then tagged to your Presentation Portfolio under your APPE section, for that particular block rotation. The Portfolio Site has example P4 portfolios so you can see how to list your APPEs, if you are not sure how to create those sections.

P4 portfolio requirements by type of APPE:

  * Community, Hospital, Acute Care, or Ambulatory Care APPEs (including elective APPEs in these categories):
     * APPE Summative Reflective Connector/Reflection, including:
        *   Reflective connector (1-2 sentences)
        * Reflection (Word document), detailing what you did, the skills they developed, and how the experience and skills points toward the career objective outlined. The curricular outcomes can serve as a platform for the link to career focus. For example, you might state that a particular experience helped to build your critical thinking skills in a specific manner and describe how they will incorporate this into your career objective.
     * Two examples of your best work (as selected from rotation assignments)
     *   Pitt Form Summary Report
  *   “Pure” elective APPEs:
     * All of the items above, except for the Pitt Form Summary Report

If you have any questions on this, please ask me or Dr. Pschirer to clarify. All of this great work you are doing builds into a wonderful portfolio, which you can use for interviewing, and also will be evaluated at your Summative Portfolio session in the Spring 2021 semester prior to graduation. We continue to work with our preceptors each block to make sure you have great learning experiences, whether they be in-person or remotely conducted. We appreciate your continued patience and your focus, as we do this.
