Hello P3s,

Preceptors at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP) of UPMC are requesting that any student who is interested in performing an APPE Acute Care rotation at this site submit a letter of intent. Students will be selected based upon the strength of information, preceptor availability, and students’ preferences for types of experience.

The letter of intent should address the following:

1. What is the relationship of your request for pediatric pharmacy to your career goals? How will this specifically advance your career? What is the relationship of your request for an experience at CHP to your career goals?

2. Indicate your preferred area(s) of pediatrics that you are interested in (prioritize if more than one requested) and the rotation(s) blocks preferred:

a. Pediatric Oncology

b. General Pediatrics

c. Pediatric ICU

d. Neonatal Intensive Care

Students should email the letter to Dr. Howrie at howrie at pitt.edu<mailto:howrie at pitt.edu> no later than Noon on November 1, 2019. Please also let Professor Skledar, Dr. Pschirer, and Ms. Schmotzer know that you have applied for these opportunities.

Students in the Pediatric Area of Concentration (ARCO) will have their two acute care APPEs prescheduled, to ensure ARCO requirements are met. Pediatric ARCO students wanting to complete pediatric acute care APPEs at Children’s Hospital must submit their APPE requests through this process.
