[Rx2021] Geisinger Health System APPE Opportunities

Dear P3 Students,

I am reaching out to share the APPE offerings for the Geisinger Health System for the 2020-2021 academic year. As done in previous years, the system has compiled a list of APPEs in the four ACPE-required experiences as well as several electives. Some of the rotations may serve as either required or elective.

Attached to this email you will find a document that lists all of the available rotations. Some rotations have provided a description for students to better understand the site. Please note and let students know that placement is not guaranteed, but we will try to place as many of them as we can, given the request and availability. In order to accommodate as many students as possible, we ask that all placement requests be sent to Dr. Pschirer/Prof. Skledar by October 25th.  We hope to complete the Geisinger placement process by the beginning of December.

Students may request multiple rotations, and we ask that you specify the rotation, location, and rotation block(s) that you are interested in.

For rotations with multiple locations (e.g. Family Medicine, CareSite, etc), students may choose up to three different locations. Unfortunately, we are unable to prioritize preference at this time.

I am reaching out to share the APPE early placement offerings for the Geisinger system for the 2020-2021 academic year. Some of the rotations may serve as either required or elective; we ask that the schools make that determination and communicate with us the outcomes and expectations for each.

Attached to this email you will find two documents. One will list all of the available rotations. Some rotations have provided a description for students to better understand the site. The second document is where we request you place the student information, requested rotation, and times/dates when the student would be available for rotations. Please note and let students know that placement is not guaranteed, but we will try to place as many of them as we can, given the request and availability. In order to accommodate as many students as possible, we ask that all early placement requests be received by November 1.  We hope to complete our placement process by the beginning of December.

Students may request multiple rotations, but should not request consideration for all available rotations. We ask that they specify to you the rotation, location, and date(s).

Please have students submit their requests to you. We will then receive your completed request sheet to incorporate with the other requests. We do not request any additional qualifying information for students, though we welcome any internal screening processes or student information you send along with the requests.
