[Rx2021] APPE Elective Opportunity: Pharmacy Business Leadership at CVS Health **Due Oct 30th**

Hello P3s,

See below for information about an elective APPE rotation opportunity at CVS Health. This is a leadership/business experience in community pharmacy that is open to CVS interns as well as all of our Class of 2021 pharmacy students.

CVS Pharmacy Business Leadership APPE (elective APPE)

Overview:
To provide students with advanced leadership experiences and to expose individuals to business management within a large organization. This elective advanced pharmacy practice experience will serve to provide insight into corporate and field management daily practices. Students will learn about leadership and business management and be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to maintain service and improve outcomes within a corporate setting.  Students will participate in various activities which will help to develop the qualities necessary for the 3 critical roles future pharmacist must play – Clinician, Manager, and Leader.  CVS Health offers this rotation to all qualifying pharmacy students across the country and spots are limited.

Students will:

·           Experience first-hand how to manage and be part of a store team while gaining a basic overview of store, district, and region operations

·           Have a CVS Pharmacy Licensed Pharmacy District Supervisor/Manager as a preceptor.

·           Gain knowledge about the theory and decision making process behind pharmacy initiatives

·           Participate in designated workshop and travel days centered around topics such as leadership, loss prevention, district manager roles and responsibilities, pharmacy operations, Compliance & Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance and Human Resources that will allow them to interact and network with many members of field management

·           When possible, students will participate in region and district meetings as well as off-site clinics, Career/Interview Days and much more.

If you are interested, please send an email to Dr. Pschirer and myself, indicating the following, by Monday, October 30th:


·         APPE block when you are interested (you can indicate several blocks if you are not exactly sure yet)

·         State and city where you would want to do this experience (even if it is Pittsburgh, PA)

·         Additional specifics of location, such as “east of Pittsburgh” or “near Erie”, etc.

We will be sending in all Pitt student requests together to CVS Health corporate, and then they will let us know the placements hopefully before the end of the semester. Please adhere to the Oct 30th deadline if you are interested in this APPE elective.
