[Rx2021] Professional Electives Clarification

Hello Rising P3 students,

I have received several inquiries regarding the number of credits for which you will be registered in the Fall term.  This email is to clarify your curricular requirements.  NOTE:  PharmD students must complete a minimum of six credits of professional electives and may register up to 19 credits in the Fall and Spring terms.  These electives can be taken inside of the School of Pharmacy or from the pre-approved list of professional electives outside of the School of Pharmacy (see below).

Please find attached your PharmD curriculum.  There is space included in both the Fall and Spring of your P3 year for electives.  You still need to email me your elective registration request and I will process these on a first-come, first-served basis.

If there are changes to the electives schedule, the list will be posted outside of Student Services and posted in the Semester Files section of the PittPharmacy Intranet.

NOTE:  If you completed acceptable professional electives during your P1-P3 years, these will count toward your professional electives requirement.  If you are pursuing an ARCO, please work with your ARCO coordinator(s) to ensure that you are on track for completing your requirements.

Hello Class of 2021,

Registration will begin next Monday for the Fall 2019 (2201) semester.  The Fall 2019 semester is slated to begin on Monday, August 26th and ends on Friday, December 6th.  Fall 2019 Finals week is the following week, December 9-14, 2019.

Just as a friendly reminder, I will automatically register you for your regular Fall 2019 schedule of classes starting Monday, April 8th.

**If you are interested in registering for professional elective credit(s), you are welcome to begin emailing me now with your registration request using your Pitt email.  To expedite this process, please include your PeopleSoft ID (7 digits) and the catalog/class number in your email.  If special permission is required, forward the coordinator consent in your email.  I will be processing registrations for professional electives on a first come, first served basis when registration opens.  Your last opportunity to make changes to your schedule is 4pm on Friday, September 6th.

If you have a hold, you will not be able to register until your hold is resolved and your elective spot will not be held.  Holds may be placed on a student’s account, for instance, for failure to submit requested documentation to certain offices or failure to pay outstanding debts to the University.  I reviewed holds that may prevent registration and have reached out to any students who may be affected by a hold.  If you have a hold that may prevent your registration, please touch base with me when you hold is lifted so that I can register you.

NOTE:  If there are any changes in the elective schedule between now and registration, updates will be posted on the bulletin board outside Student Services.  We will be sending out a finalized Fall core course schedule as soon as it is available.
