[Rx2021] Pitt SNPhA - Welcome Back!

Hello Everyone,

I hope you have enjoyed the first two weeks back! My name is Kathy Monangai and I’m the Chapter President of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association, or SNPhA. For those of you interested in the advancement of the pharmacy profession through underserved care and proper representation, we are the organization for you! If you’re not familiar with us, I would love to introduce you to us and what we stand for as a national organization.

With all of the information we’ve been given recently, here are some events I wanted you to be aware of over the next two weeks:

First General Body Meeting: Wednesday, September 12th @ 12:00 PM (Salk Hall - Room 402)
- Learn about our organization, what underserved care means, and a recap of last year
- Discuss membership, all of the benefits, and the payment options
- Come meet the rest of the Eboard and hear how we’d like to work with you!

Blood Pressure Bootcamp: Wednesday, September 12th @ 6:00 PM (Salk Hall - Room 524)
- Come teach others or brush up on the proper technique of taking a patient’s blood pressure
- Assistance with this event (teaching P1s and Undergrads) is an IPPE-Approved event

Living with Type 1 Diabetes Event: Tuesday, September 18th @ 6:00 PM (Salk Hall - Room 456)
- Presenter: Lori Bednarzi, Diabetes Educator from UPMC
- Demonstrations for the use of insulin pens, insulin injections via vial and syringe, CGM devices, and more!
- Great opportunity to learn about a disease state that affects a large number of patients you will see in the future

JDRF One Walk: Saturday, September 22nd @ 10:00 AM (Schenley Park on Flagstaff Hill)
- Meet at the Panera on Forbes Ave at 8:45 AM
- We are raising money for research to help fight Type 1 diabetes!
- Pay $10 for a Pitt SNPhA t-shirt (funds donated to our team’s fundraising page)
