SUBJECT: Limited Submissions Process Overview and Current Limited Submission Opportunities

On behalf of Dr. Mark Redfern, Vice Provost for Research, welcome to the start of a new academic year.
The limited submission opportunities listed in this announcement are programs that place a limit on the number of applications that the University can submit to a funding organization. Some sponsors stipulate restrictions on the number of submissions per institution, school and/or discipline. When such limitations are stipulated in program guidelines, an internal review and selection process is necessary to select the best-qualified candidate or proposal to represent the University.
Competition Space<https://upitt.infoready4.com/>, the University's internal competition site, provides Pitt faculty and students with an online portal to streamline the process of finding, and applying for, limited submission competitions and other internally coordinated funding opportunities. This easy-to-use, web-based interface provides detailed opportunity announcements as well as links to funder and program resources.
Applications that are submitted through the site are reviewed by the Vice Provost for Research. In cases where there are more applications received through the site than stipulated by the sponsor, an ad hoc committee is convened to make selection recommendations.
The following limited submission funding opportunities have been added to the Competition Space<https://upitt.infoready4.com/> site, accessible via the Pitt Passport<https://my.pitt.edu/> portal and the Office of Research<http://research.pitt.edu/>. Opportunity listings include program descriptions and deadlines, required internal application materials, and links to funder guidelines. Current items are:
