> Dear Colleagues,

>
> I am writing to inform you of an upcoming Mindful Physician Leadership training program the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School is hosting for private practice and other practicing physicians in the state of Massachusetts. The training program is grant funded by the Physicians Foundation and is being offered at free tuition. The program is a one-year training program that will be offered to 40 physicians and provides training on mindful approaches to leadership, clinical practice, and life. The attached flyer and description below provides further details on the program structure and objectives. Please feel to circulate as you see fit amongst your physician colleagues. We would greatly appreciate your help with dissemination. Slots are limited and we are hoping to have the group of 40 identified by June 30th. Anyone who has interest is welcome to contact Makenzie Tonelli, project coordinator, (at 508-856-8641 or via email at: Makenzie.tonelli at umassmed.edu) for more information on the program or to engage in the brief application process (about 5 minutes of questions about leadership activity and interest in the program).

> The University of Massachusetts Medical School will be hosting a Mindful Physician Leadership Program. This one-year training program beginning in July 2014, will be made available to 40 private practice and other practicing physician leaders throughout Massachusetts. This program, funded by a Physician's Foundation Physician Leadership grant and led by Dr. Douglas Ziedonis, Chair of Psychiatry, UMMS, aligns with the Physicians Foundation's goals to enhance the professional development of private practice and other practicing physician leaders, and ultimately enhance clinical care and the workforce development of other healthcare providers. The program builds on an established mindful leadership training curriculum designed and taught by the internationally known Institute for Mindful Leadership (IML), a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of professionals' capacity to lead and live with excellence. Participants will have the opportunity to join a community of physician leaders in learning mindful approaches to Leadership, Clinical Practice, and Life, and will learn from international leader, Janice Marturano, JD, Founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Mindful Leadership, and author of the book, "Finding the Space to Lead," a 2014 Nautilus Award winner. The program focuses on private practice and other practicing physicians, tailoring the Mindful Leadership training to the health care arena, providing ongoing mentoring & support, and helping physicians change their organizational culture to support mindful practice and mindful leadership approaches taught in this program.
>
> This training program is grant-funded and thus will be provided at free tuition to participants. A CME accreditation application is currently pending for the following components of the 12-month training program (26 hours total for the three types of activities):

> . A series of Live Webinars (Total of 8 hours) to further explore mindful leadership
> . Participating in monthly Mindful Physician Community Groups (Total of 10 hours) to further explore real-world healthcare challenges and the application of mindful leadership in transforming your organization, clinical practice, and general wellbeing.
