I attended this last year. It was fabulous. The sessions were excellent and the resort is incredible. I met lots of great people.

Hopefully all of you are familiar with this and the early-career program already, but if not, they are terrific conferences, and I urge you to consider applying. In previous years we have been able to procure some funds from the Department and/or the Dean to defray the cost of attending, and your division chief should be willing to kick in as well. If I can arrange that again, I will send out a general announcement to female dept faculty.
Best,
Ora

Women in Medicine Colleagues:

The AAMC Mid Career Women Faculty Professional Development Seminar is now accepting applications for the 2008 program, which is scheduled for December 6-9, 2008 at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. CME credit is offered. Designed for women associate or full professors with clear potential for departmental and institutional leadership, the seminar's objectives are to:

*         Develop career plans to advance along a path to leadership;

*         Enhance skill in communication, especially with public audiences and media;

*         Improve knowledge of institutional finance and departmental budgeting processes;

* Strengthen selected skills such as negotiation, conflict, personnel and time management; and

* Expand networks of mentors and colleagues in academic medicine.

Applicants are asked to submit a current curriculum vitae with their online application. The full program and application materials are available at: http://www.aamc.org/meetings/wim/midwim/2008/start.htm. This program is often oversubscribed, so we encourage you to apply early!
