<p class="MsoNormal">Recently, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) have alerted Schools of Pharmacy to revisions to the North American Pharmacy Licensure Exam (NAPLEX)
<b>THAT WILL TAKE EFFECT ON JANUARY 18, 2021</b> and therefore will affect you as you prepare for and complete the exam.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">While I have summarized the changes below, Dr. Howrie and I wanted to schedule a townhall with you to discuss further: specifically, implications of these changes, how PittPharmacy will help in successful performance on the new NAPLEX,
and answer questions that you might have. <o:p></o:p></p>

<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l1 level2 lfo3">Area 1 – Obtain, Interpret, or Assess Data, Medical, or Patient Information (Approximately 18% of Test)<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l1 level2 lfo3">Area 2 – Identify Drug Characteristics (Approximately 14% of Test)<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l1 level2 lfo3">Area 3 – Develop or Manage Treatment Plans (Approximately 35% of Test)<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l1 level2 lfo3">Area 4 – Perform Calculations (Approximately 14% of Test)<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l1 level2 lfo3">Area 5 – Compound, Dispense, or Administer Drugs, or Manage Delivery Systems (Approximately 11% of Test)<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l1 level2 lfo3">Area 6 – Develop or Manage Practice or Medication-Use Systems to Ensure Safety and Quality (Approximately 7% of Test)<o:p></o:p></li></ol>

<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l1 level1 lfo3"><b>The NAPLEX and MPJE will move to a Pass/Fail result</b>. NABP will no longer provide a numerical score. This change closely aligns with the current practice of other professional licensure board exams
and reporting practices. Candidates whom are not successful in passing the NAPLEX will receive a report into their e-profile showing how well they performed in each of the 6 areas of competency and areas of which they need to focus to better prepare for successful
completion of the exam.<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l1 level1 lfo3"><b>The test results change will eliminate the candidate waiver request</b>.
<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l1 level1 lfo3"><b>The pre-NAPLEX and pre-MPJE exam have been upgraded to completely mimic the NAPLEX and MPJE exams.
</b>This change will allow a student to simulate the process and tools provided when taking the NAPLEX and MPJE and give them the same look and feel. It will help in their preparation and remove some of those unknown factors.<o:p></o:p></li></ol>
