<p class="MsoNormal">Geisinger Medical Center is excited to announce the 2019 Pharmacy Summer Intern Program! Our Summer Intern Program provides Student Pharmacists an advanced educational experience with an emphasis on patient care, clinical therapeutics,
disease state management, and pharmacy operations. We are seeking motivated students who are completing their second year with a strong interest in learning about hospital and clinical pharmacy practice.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This unique opportunity offers Summer Interns a "mini-residency" experience with exposure to a variety of hospital pharmacy practice sites in addition to longitudinal project management. Summer Interns will round with pharmacists on interdisciplinary
patient care teams in areas including Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Critical Care, Hematology, Oncology, Pediatrics, Trauma and more. Interns will also engage in ambulatory care pharmacy practice focusing on anticoagulation
and chronic disease state management. As a valued member of the pharmacy team, Interns will gain exposure to both the principal distributive and advancing clinical functions of the pharmacist. Additional educational opportunities include patient counseling,
medication reconciliation, drug utilization evaluation projects, as well as participation in committee meetings and pharmacist staff development activities. Interns also gain valuable presentation skills through participation in teaching Orthopedic Joint Class
and a final patient case presentation to pharmacy staff. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The goal of the Geisinger Pharmacy Summer Intern Program is to expose Student Pharmacists to an innovative integrated model of hospital pharmacy practice while building a foundation of valuable patient care skills. This is a paid internship,
with four Summer Intern openings available for 13 weeks over the summer of 2019.

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Interested Student Pharmacists should apply online at https://www.geisinger.org/en/aboutgeisinger/careers/search-jobs under Clinical/Allied Health and search for Keyword "Pharmacy Intern". Completed applications for consideration will
require attachment of a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, current academic transcript, and contact information for two professional references. Please note the following timeline:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Applications must be received no later than Monday, December 3rd, 2018.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Student Pharmacists will be notified of their application status and invitation for interviews by Thursday, December 13th, 2018.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Qualifying applicants will be invited to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA for group interviews and tour on Thursday December 27th, 2018.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• All applicants will be notified of the final decision by the end of January 2019.<o:p></o:p></p>
