Background:

The University of Pittsburgh COVID-19 Medical Response Office (CMRO) is partnering with the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) for an initial COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic on January 28 and 29 at the Peterson Event Center. This clinic will be the first of a series of clinics offered. This first clinic prioritizes health science students in patient-facing roles and is limited to the number of vaccinations allocated by the ACHD. Future clinics will be offered as vaccine becomes available.

When/Where:

  *   Thursday, Jan. 28 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  *   Friday, Jan. 29 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  * University of Pittsburgh Peterson Event Center, Concourse level

Volunteers Needed:

The Clinic will be staffed by University faculty, staff and students in the health sciences and led by the CMRO. Volunteers are needed in a variety of roles including COVID-19 screening, registration, clinical screening and vaccination, pharmacy and medical support, and general flow of the clinic. Volunteers may be asked to support a variety of roles. Volunteers are asked to be available from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. for both days if possible. Volunteer feedback throughout this first clinic will support the planning process and success of future COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

Action Items:

  1. Contact your respective faculty liaison to the CMRO Vaccination Clinic with your interest and availability to volunteer on both days
     *   Nursing:  Jonna Morris
     * Pharmacy: Sue Skledar [students should use link above to reply.]
  2. Sign up for PA Medical Reserve Corp:
     * We need 20 P4 volunteers to start, so if you are in the first 20 students volunteering, you will be notified and then you will be asked to sign up for the Pennsylvania Medical Reserve Corp to document your credentials. If you do not get to volunteer this time, there will be many other opportunities.
     * If you are on APPE rotation currently, and you are selected to do this, you will be excused from rotation. Your preceptor will be notified of your volunteer activity.
  3. You will receive a confirmation email with more information and details about the role you will have at the clinic.
  4. Review vaccine information prior to arrival at the clinic. For questions, contact CMRO Vaccination Clinic Volunteer Coordinator Amy Giles (Pharmacy) at amy.giles at pitt.edu<mailto:amy.giles at pitt.edu>.
