Dear Students,
Tomorrow, Friday, January 17th at 5PM, the preferencing screens will be available to you in EValue. They will remain open until 11:59PM on Sunday, January 26th. During this time you will be able to build your "wish list" of rotations for your P4 year. As we discussed in the colloquium session last week, for the best result in your rotation schedule, please keep in mind the following:

  1. Prior to entering your preferences, go into EValue and run your Schedule Report to see what rotations are already pre-scheduled for you. (Make sure you set the dates in the Schedule Report to coincide with the entire P4 year.)
  2. If you see that something is missing or incorrect in your Schedule Report, please notify us right away.
  3. Begin entering your preferences for those types of rotations that are not pre-scheduled. Be aware of the exact wording of the rotation categories so that you preference properly. The categories are: Acute Care Medicine, Ambulatory Care, Community, Hospital, Acute Care Medicine-2 or Ambulatory Care-2, Elective-1, Elective-2, Elective-3. You need to preference in every category where you don't have something pre-scheduled.
  4. You can enter up to 20 preferences in each category. You don't need to enter 20, but you must enter enough so that the computer has options for you if your top picks aren't available. I suggest at least 5 or 6 preferences in each category.
  5. While entering preferences, if you do not see local site or preceptor choices that you think should be available, please let us know.
  6. If you have pending rotations that are not yet confirmed (FDA, CDC, special requests) enter your preferences as if the unconfirmed rotations do not happen.
  7. Remember to Save your preferences at the end of each session where you do anything in the preference screens. You can return to the preference screens as many times as you want to make changes, however you must Save any changes each time in order for them to "stick".
  8. There is no advantage to being the first, middle, or last person to enter preferences, however don't wait until the last minute to do this. The screens will become unavailable to you promptly at 11:59PM on January 26th. It is much more important to be thoughtful and strategic in how you preference.

We continue to receive availability from preceptors and enter it into EValue, and will notify you of any significant additions during the preferencing period.
