Hello P3s,

An elective APPE at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Headquarters in Arlington, VA, is now available. The rotation will help students learn fundamentals of association and leadership management including effective communication, education, and advocacy. Students will gain an understanding of AMCP, participate in strategy meetings (including those on Capitol Hill), identify/analyze issues in managed care pharmacy, and also develop verbal and written communication skills related to managed care pharmacy practice.

Interested students should complete the on-line application (link below), which includes a 500-word essay explaining career goals and interest in managed care pharmacy and/or association management, and upload your CV (including best contact information). Also include which rotation blocks you would like to be placed there, and a list of 2-3 professional references that can be contacted. Please note that AMCP’s rotation blocks are slightly different than ours at Pitt Pharmacy, but they are willing to modify dates as you indicate them. AMCP will conduct phone interviews with top candidates.

Materials are due by December 15, 2019. Final notifications for applicants will be sent via email no later than January 17, 2020.

Please also email me and Dr. Pschirer to let us know you have applied, and for what block(s).

Thank you,
Prof. Skledar
