[Rx2021] Amb Care/Acute Care 10-Week Transplant APPE at UPMC Montefiore ** Due Dec 1st**

Hello P3s,

Drs. Schonder, Johnson, and Shimko will be offering at 10-week ambulatory care/acute care blended learning experience in solid organ transplant at UPMC Montefiore this year. This is a rigorous immersion experience into kidney and liver transplantation, in the outpatient and inpatient setting. Locations will be in the Starzl Transplant Clinic, the outpatient transplant unit, and the kidney/liver general and intensive care units. This 10-week experience will be available in blocks 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, 7-8, and 8-9 (every block, 1 student). Preceptors will be Dr. Kris Schonder (amb care), Dr. Heather Johnson (acute care), and Dr. Kristen Shimko (acute care).

Students with a true interest in solid organ transplant, for the full 10-week experience, should submit their names for consideration to me and Dr. Pschirer by December 1st. Students will be selected and notified about this by December 13th.

Please also note that these preceptors also will be offering traditional five-week blocks that will be posted in the eValue selection process for all students.
