[Rx2021] New Pitt Initiative--PANTHERS FORWARD

Class of 2021:

Just wanted to let you all know about some exciting news!  The University of Pittsburgh recently announced a new initiative designed to support student success and reduce the burden of student loan debt.  You may qualify for the Panthers Forward if you are planning to receive BSPS, the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Studies in April, 2019 and if this will be your first undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Please continue to read below and investigate this initiative as it could directly benefit you.

Recently Announced,  “Panthers Forward” is a new program that will provide up to $5,000 in direct federal student loan relief. The graduating class of spring term 2019 is the first class to be eligible to apply for and receive these funds.  Please see a brief overview of the program below:

To Qualify:

  *   Eligible students must be in good standing with the University and have received federal student loans during the 2018-2019 school year.
  *   Panthers Forward participants will have access to an exclusive network of alumni mentors, called Alumni Ambassadors, dedicated to supporting their success.
  *   Upon graduation, Panthers Forward participants are asked to pay it forward to future students.
  *   Participants are under no contractual obligation to repay Pitt, but their support is important to sustain the program.
  *   Donations are tax deductible and directly support future Panthers Forward students.

I encourage anyone in the Class of 2021  who meet the general application requirements to apply.  The application deadline date to apply is October 31, 2018!

Part of the application will require students to list a current Pitt employee as an official reference.  Any faculty or staff member can serve as a reference and can do so for any number of students.  Please feel free to use my name as a reference or you may choose any other Pitt employee.

This is a new program and many questions are still being asked (and answered) by the program administrators.  Should you have more questions that are not answered in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAO), you may email your questions to the program administrators.
