Hello all,
I wanted to host 2 gatherings to discuss opportunities for pharmacy students to spend 1-2 weeks in Namibia this summer. For the P1s who don’t know me, I am a faculty member here with a focus in caring for underserved populations (I’ve been on maternity leave since the Friday before fall classes started). I’ve been working with the University of Namibia School of Pharmacy since 2015 and have been bringing students along since 2016.

This year, I would like to host pharmacy students during 2 different weeks over the summer. The first trip will be: 5/12-5/26 and the second from 7/14-7/28. Students will spend time observing pharmacy practice and education in Namibia including classroom and lab experience, hospital placements, and hopefully a community placement. Students will stay at a guesthouse owned by a Namibian pharmacist and her husband. We’ll also plan a weekend trip to a nature preserve to go on a game drive or two and cook oryx steaks on the grill.

Come to one of these meetings to learn more about the opportunity and next steps!
Thursday 1/11 (this Thursday) from 12-1pm in room 635.
Monday 1/22 from 8-9am in room 635.

I’m looking forward to meeting with you and chatting,
Cheers,
Dr. Jonkman
