Important Student Information for the Spring 2018 (2184) semester!

Welcome School of Pharmacy Class of 2021!  Below and attached are some important items intended to make your transition to the classroom as smooth as possible.

Serving You:
The Curran Center for Pharmacy Students is located on the 9th floor of Salk Hall and is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the semester to serve the university. The PharmD Handbook contains the directory and contact information<http://www.pages.pharmacy.pitt.edu/pharmdhandbook/the-pharmd-student-handbook/student-services/personnel/> for this unit.


Updating Contact Information:
The School of Pharmacy uses the contact information you provide in your PeopleSoft record. It is your responsibility to update your contact information. If there is a change in your name or any other personal information, please visit: www.registrar.pitt.edu/personalinfo.html<http://www.registrar.pitt.edu/personalinfo.html>

Follow the instructions below to ensure your contact information for the University is correct. Please log in and update your address by February 1st to ensure your information is up to date.
Log into the my.pitt.edu portal, click on “Self Service”.  Once there, click on Campus Personal Information and then Addresses. Choose the address type, click “Edit” and enter your new address. Address types are HOME as your permanent address and MAILING as the address used during the academic year and can be your permanent or campus address, your preference. If you have an alternate email address, please include by choosing the type of email address as HOME.


Accessing Your Student Schedule:

The dates and times for classes have been confirmed and classrooms have been assigned. Exceptions to the main schedule will be communicated by your instructor. Please review the information and contact Cheryl Sorensen if you are scheduled for more than one elective or if you have any concerns.  Courses should not be appearing as “TBA”.



Follow the instructions below to access your student schedule.
Log into the my.pitt.edu portal, click on “Self Service”.  Once there, click on “More…” under Enrollment. If it is your first time in the screen, you will need to select the term. Click on “My Weekly Schedule” to access your schedule of classes. You can customize how courses display under Options by checking/unchecking boxes and then refreshing the calendar. You can also type in dates in the “Show Week of [date]” fields or browse past or future weeks by clicking on “<<previous week” or “next week>>”.

Pitt Pharmacy Intranet:
Visit the Pitt Pharmacy Intranet for the school calendar of events, PharmD handbook, resources, and useful web links. Access the Intranet by visiting the Pitt Pharmacy home page (pharmacy.pitt.edu<http://www.pharmacy.pitt.edu/>) and then click on Current Faculty, Staff, and Trainees under the Quick Links on the right.
Pitt Pharmacy Intranet Semester Files<http://www.intranet.pharmacy.pitt.edu/category/semester-files/> include the semester course schedule, final exam schedule, and weekly grids.
Class Pages, Student Organizations, and other Resources, including the PharmD Handbook, can be found on the PharmD Student PoRxtal<http://students.pharmacy.pitt.edu/>.


Academic Calendar:
The academic calendar for the University can be found on the Registrar’s Calendars page<http://www.registrar.pitt.edu/calendars.html>.


Pharmacy Add/Drop and Withdraw Deadline Grids:
Please see attached file. This grid will assist you with making timely decisions for add/drop and withdrawal from courses within the School of Pharmacy. Please check with the Registration Services<http://www.registrar.pitt.edu/enrollment.html> department in the Registrar’s Office if you have a question about the date for adding, dropping or withdrawing from a course in another academic unit.


Final Exam Schedule:
Please use the following attachment for final exam dates. Follow your instructor’s directives on what equipment you will need to be successful in your final exams.


Scholarship Application:
Each year the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy awards scholarships through a competitive process to enrolled PharmD students in their P1-P4 years. Any scholarship received will be split between the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters. More information will be available on the PoRxTal. The Scholarship application opens on Thursday, March 1st and the deadline is Saturday, March 31st.



Mark your calendars –
Registration for the Summer 2018 (2187) term opens on Monday, February 12th.
Registration for the Fall 2018 (2191) term opens on Monday, April 7th.

Dr. Gordon J. Vanscoy White Coat Ceremony will be held on Friday, January 19th at 2:30 p.m. at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall.
The Tucci Lecture will be held on Wednesday, January 24th at Noon in Scaife 6. The speaker will be Dr. Greg Drew.
The Koch Lecture will be held on Wednesday, March 28th at Noon in Scaife 6. The speaker will be Dr. Maria Croyle.
