Hello Everyone,

Pitt SSHP would like to invite all student members to participate in our Annual Clinical Skills Competition, which will take place on October 1st and October 2nd, 2018.

For those who are not familiar with the competition, students will participate in the competition in teams of two. At the beginning of the competition, student teams are each provided with a patient case. Teams have two hours to work through the case, and at the end of two hours teams must submit a prioritized patient assessment and plan for review by a panel of judges, made up of both faculty members and pharmacy residents. Judges will review all submissions and select the three top teams to present and defend their assessment/care plan during the final round on October 2nd, from 12:00-1:00 pm.

The winning team members of the final round will each receive full reimbursement (registration, hotel and travel up to $1,000) for attending the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition (December 2-6, 2018 in Anaheim, CA) and will represent PittPharmacy in the national Clinical Skills Competition that takes place during this conference!

We highly encourage students from all classes to participate in the competition! Dinner will be provided the night of the competition. If you are planning to participate, please complete the google form below by midnight on Monday, 9/24. Both team members should fill out the google form. Filling out this google form will be considered as a commitment that both students on the team will be present for the competition.

Schedule
October 1st:
5:00 - Participants Arrive (402 Salk Hall)
5:30 - Competition begins
7:30 - Competition ends - Cases must be submitted at this time; participants retreat to atrium for dinner and can go home at their leisure
10:00 - By 10pm the 3 "top teams" will be notified via phone/email by SSHP if you have advanced to the final round. The 3 "top teams" will have overnight to prepare their oral presentation/defense which they will present to the judges on October 2nd at 12pm. This will include a 2-minute case presentation and an 8-minute question & answer session with the judges.

October 2nd:
12:00-1:00pm - Final Round 457 Salk Hall-The 3 "top teams" present and defend their case to the judges followed by judges' Q&A.  Everyone is invited to come and watch the final round. SSHP strongly encourages attending and cheering on the finalists!
