Subject: Salk Hall | Message of Gratitude
Date: December 12, 2017 at 7:38:41 AM EST

After recently meeting my soon-to-be sister-in-law's parents, I am grateful to be living during an age in which personal freedom is both far-reaching and deeply entrenched in society. I am thankful to those who came before me who have progressed society to a point where, today, my older brother can marry the woman of his dreams without retaliation or ostracism. Only decades ago, an Egyptian could only dream of marrying a Libyan.

Is there a person, activity, belief, etc. that you love dearly today, but would have been unable to enjoy during another historical period?<https://pitt.sharepoint.com/sites/dental/HealthyU/Gratitude/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=26>

The Salk Hall community (the School of Dental Medicine and the School of Pharmacy) celebrates the University of Pittsburgh Year of Healthy U with an ongoing gratitude journaling activity. Throughout the remainder of this academic year, you will receive a weekly e-mail message of gratitude composed by other Salk Hall community members. The messages will include a prompt to inspire you to post your thoughts of gratitude in the on-line SharePoint site<https://pitt.sharepoint.com/sites/dental/HealthyU/Gratitude/default.aspx>, or write them in a small, private journal available free in each school’s Dean’s office.

If you would like to compose one of the weekly messages of gratitude and a prompt for readers, please send your submission to Nina Markovic (ninam at pitt.edu<mailto:ninam at pitt.edu>) or Tom Waters (waterstc at pitt.edu<mailto:waterstc at pitt.edu>).
