[Peris-listserv] What Should I list as the Direct Sponsor on an Award in MyFunding?

Many federal agencies, such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), have multiple centers, institutes, and divisions that fall under their umbrella. For example, the National Institute of Mental Health is an institute of NIH.

When an award is created in MyFunding, the Direct Sponsor defaults to the sponsor that was selected when the funding proposal was created. However, for activation and reporting purposes, it is important to update the Direct Sponsor to reflect the center, institute, or division as listed in the Notice of Award (NOA).  To update the Direct Sponsor on an award, follow the below steps:


  1.  Log into MyFunding: www.peris.pitt.edu<http://www.peris.pitt.edu>


  1.  Click on the 'Awards' tab on the top of the screen:

  1.  In the search box, enter the award number and click 'Go':

  1.  Click on the award 'Name' to access the award record:

  1.  Once in the award record click 'Edit Award':

  1.  On the 'General Award Information' page, go to question 5 and use the % to search for the specific center, institute, or division (For example, National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), which is a center under the National Institutes of Health (NIH)):

  1.  [cid:image005.png at 01D5B017.2614C750] Click 'Save' at the top of the page:
