The Blavatnik Archive comprises over 113,000 items that contribute to the study of modern Jewish history, with a special emphasis on World War I, World War II, and Soviet Russia. Recognizing the need for fully virtual and free access to collections, the Blavatnik
Archive launched the development of blavatnikarchive.org in 2012. Currently, 12,200 items are freely available and downloadable online, including video testimonies, postcards, photographs, posters, drawings, illustrations, diaries, letters, state-issued documents,
leaflets, periodicals, stamps, currency and books. Through its item-based infrastructure, many primary sources presented are fully cataloged, with descriptions, transcripts, translations, geography and subject metadata, and full and segmented video player.
Users are able to curate their own content and share records or entire folders with other individuals or groups. Attendees will learn about the many discovery tools available and about the Archive’s future plans.
