The State of Russian Studies 2022 Survey
ASEEES is undertaking an assessment of the state of the field of research and graduate training about Russia in the United States. The initial plan was to conduct this follow-up study in 2020, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to assessing trends in the field since 2015, the present study seeks to understand the impact of the pandemic, Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the call to "de-colonize" Russian/Eurasian studies.

A crucial part of this effort is a survey of US-based scholars and students who conduct research on Russia in different disciplines. The survey will remain open until midnight on December 19.  Please consider taking the survey as soon as possible:  a high response rate will help ASEEES identify both the challenges that face US-based research and graduate training on Russia and potential steps to address the challenges moving forward. ASEEES Data Project on Displaced Ukrainian Scholars - Help us disseminate the questionnaire
Also funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York as well as the Richard Lounsbery Foundation, ASEEES and Harvard University's Ukrainian Research Institute (HURI) and Davis Center are conducting a data-gathering project to assess the scope of internal and external displacement of Ukrainian scholars due to Russia's war in Ukraine.
