This message is for non-student members at US institutions with Russian study/internship abroad programs only.
As you may know, the US State Department issued a travel advisory<https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/russia-travel-advisory.html> for Russia with the Level 3 warning in January 2018. This advisory has led to a lot of confusion and reassessment of Russian study/internship abroad programs at US universities and colleges. The situation is most unfortunate since we need more people-to-people exchanges at tense political times like this.
We at ASEEES are trying to assess the impact of the travel advisory on the US study/internship programs to Russia. If your institution has such a program, please complete, or have the program coordinator complete, this short survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TQSS5GL If you have more than one program to Russia, please enter one program per response.
Please do note that while the federally-funded Gilman Undergraduate Scholarship for study abroad is by mandate not allowed to send students to areas with travel warnings of Level 3 or 4, this mandate does not apply to all federally funded programs. We have been keeping a close eye on the relevant programs and expect most of them to move forward as planned.
We thank you for your assistance with the survey.
Regards,
