Dear ASEEES Members:
MEMBERSHIP
It is membership renewal time: www.aseees.org/membership/individual<http://www.aseees.org/membership/individual>. Please renew your ASEEES membership for 2016 so that we can continue to build on our vision to serve as the premier organization dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about Central Asia, the Caucasus, Russia, and East-Central Europe.

We offer two-year membership options so that you can renew for 2016 and 2017 at the 2016 dues rate.
Consider becoming a lifetime member as a way to support the association for the long term and make a financial contribution to its endowment.
We offer reduced membership dues for eligible members who permanently reside in Eastern Europe/Eurasia: www.aseees.org/membership/individual/eastern-europe-eurasia<http://www.aseees.org/membership/individual/eastern-europe-eurasia>

NOTE: Before you renew, check on your membership status to make sure you haven't already paid for 2016. You can find this information on My Information and in the Shopping Cart page on the Members site. If you are not sure if you already renewed your membership or having difficulty logging into the members site, please contact Jonathon Swiderski, membership coordinator, at aseees at pitt.edu<mailto:aseees at pitt.edu> or 412-648-9911.

For information on joining/renewing as an institutional member, see: www.aseees.org/membership/institutional<http://www.aseees.org/membership/institutional>

2016 CONVENTION CALL FOR PROPOSALS
We are delighted to announce the 48th ASEEES Annual Convention<http://www.aseees.org/convention> in Washington, DC, at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park, Nov. 17-20, 2016.
The 2016 Convention Theme is "Global Conversations"<http://www.aseees.org/convention/2016-theme>

The Call for Proposals is now open: www.aseees.org/convention/cfp<http://www.aseees.org/convention/cfp>
Proposal Deadline: February 15, 2016 for ALL Submissions - panel, roundtable, individual paper, and meeting submissions.

Revised Session Categories for Scheduling: The 2016 Session Categories have been extensively revised. Please review the list before you submit your proposal: www.aseees.org/convention/categories<http://www.aseees.org/convention/categories> Please note that the categories are strictly used for scheduling purposes only.

Rules for Participation: Please carefully review the rules for participation: www.aseees.org/convention/rules<http://www.aseees.org/convention/rules> Note the new rule for 2016: If you submitted an individual paper proposal for the 2015 Convention and it was accepted, you cannot submit another individual paper proposal for the 2016 Convention. Please consider organizing a panel.

We are anticipating an exceptionally large number of proposals for the 2016 Convention. Individual paper submissions will have a MUCH LOWER chance of being accepted than panel/roundtable proposals. We STRONGLY encourage all interested participants to form, or become part of, a panel proposal. To assist in the process of forming panels, we have created the Panel/Paper Wanted Board: www.aseees.org/convention/paperspanels-wanted-board<http://www.aseees.org/convention/paperspanels-wanted-board> If you are looking for a panel to join or a paper presenter for your panel, please review the proposals<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0ApSs2h2I7nkMdDc5N1FLQk0xZGhEcXBHWGw2aUhlUUE&rm=full#gid=0> on the online board. You can also indicate your willingness to volunteer as chair or discussant. You can also use the 2016 Convention Facebook group<https://www.facebook.com/groups/769001783227799/>.

Membership Requirement: ALL individual paper submitters and session organizers in the US and abroad MUST be ASEEES members in order to submit a proposal. Please review the membership rules<http://www.aseees.org/convention/rules#membership> for participation.

With any inquiries about the convention, please contact the convention manager at aseees.convention at pitt.edu<mailto:aseees.convention at pitt.edu> If you are experiencing technical difficulties, please contact aseees at pitt.edu<mailto:aseees at pitt.edu>
